BALOTRA FAIR
This is one of the most important and attractive fairs of Rajasthan. Popularly known as Tilwara and Mali-Nath Cattle Fair. Started in 1374 AD by Shri Rao Malinath as a religious get together in which thousands of transport animals have gathered and slowly started buying and selling. In the first instance more than 35.000 animals came. This fair is being held on the dry river bed of Khari river, meaning salty water. But the miracle is that during the fair period the water of this river becomes sweet and is believed to be a blessing. Now every year for 15 days this fair is being held from the 6th day of Holi (March/April). Around the fair in the radius of 50 km there are several historical sites of more than 5000 years old. One among them a 10 ton idol of Shivalingh of black granite.
The first statue this size and weight in India. One can also visit several ancient temples nearby with historical importance. Pratap Country Inn is keenly interested in this fair and participate with groups of horse safaris royal tents in medieval settings.
