History of the Mewar Stables

Maharaja Narendra Singh of  Mewar a member of the oldest unbroken royal family of more than 1500 years old, who is also the pioneer of horse safaris in India since 1972, offers a unique adventurous experience on horseback.Monthly we are sending safaris to Chittor, Pushkar, Kumbalgarh, Balotra,    Jaisalmer and Bundi.

Our longest Safari went from Udaipur to Kashmir.

Till today he is the only Marwari horse breeder  recognized by the government of Rajasthan and owns the best original blood line of Marwari horses. People who understand real Marwari horses bloodline, take foals or fillies of our stable.

Maharaja Narendra Singh found out the extinction of the Marwari breed of horses, because of British and Mogul influence. For this matter he started breeding Marwari horses in 1972 and in 1992 he founded the “Chetak Horse Society of India”. Also he is the organizer of the annual “Haldi Gathi Horse Fair”. Aim of this horse fair is to preserve and promote the Marwari breed of horses in India and abroad.

Mewar Stables consist of the breeding stallion “Sultan”. Sultan is active since 15 years  at Mewar Stables and transmits his great qualifications to his foals.Further more in the stud farm are 20 mares for breeding, which are also for riding on the safaris, 5 geldings. Annually the stud farm produces 10 to 12 foals.
